Day Trips 2017 

Please use the official booking forms if you would like to go on these outings. 

You  are welcome to apply for any of the trips listed below.  Waiting lists are compiled for trips already fully booked, to cover requests for late cancellations.



Thursday 29th June 2017 - Stonehenge and Bowood House

We depart from Locking Road Car Park and journey south-east to Stonehenge to see the stones and the Visitors Centre.  Transport is available for those who do not wish to walk to the stones.  After lunch we will travel via Westbury with a photostop at the White Horse. Then we will go to  Bowood House which has a Capability Brown landscape and fine collections of art and historic items.


Tuesday 18th July 2017 - Wye Valley Cruise and Chepstow

The coach will depart from Locking Road Car Park and head for the border region of south Wales. After visiting the Wye Valley Leisure Park we will board a boat for a 40 minute river cruise on the Wye.  Then we will travel to Chepstow for lunch with time to explore this ancient market town including the Norman castle and Museum.


Tuesday 8th August 2017 - Bideford and Hartland Abbey

The coach departs from Locking Road Car Park and travels south-west pausing at Knightshayes (NT) for coffee.  The coach continues onwards to Bideford for a town visit and lunch.  In the afternoon we will visit Hartland Abbey which was built in 1149.  It holds important collections of pictures, porcelain and family memorabilia in stunning interiors.


Thursday 31st August 2017 - Seaton Tramway, Sidmouth and Sand

We will depart from Locking Road Car Park and head in a southerly direction to Coylton Station where we will board a tramcar bound for Seaton, passing through two nature reserves alongside the river Axe.  At Seaton the coach journey continues to Sidmouth where we will have lunch before continuing to Sand.  This is a privately owned Elizabethan residence with six acres of gardens and guided tours.
